Softball: Bison Earn Sweep Against Cougars

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Bethany College softball team earned a sweep over Chatham University Cougars Saturday afternoon to open up Presidents' Athletic Conference play.

Game One Overview

Bethany 10, Chatham 2 (5 Innings)

Chatham crossed the play first in the bottom of the second to take a 1-0 lead after an error by the shortstop. In the third, the Bison exploded for nine runs to take a 9-1 lead. The Cougars added one run in the bottom of the third. Bethany's Jennifer Oberthur flew out to right field to drive in Kathleen Fuchs.

Josie Wise earned her sixth win of the season pitching 5.0 innings on four hits, two runs (two earned) with five strikeouts.

Jennifer Oberthur led the Bison with three runs batted in. Mary Marshall and Angela Brandel both added two RBIs apiece. Brandel scored two runs while Kathleen Fuchs scored twice for the Bison.

Game Two Overview

Bethany 4, Chatham 1

It was a scoreless first four innings between the Cougars and Bison. Bethany had bases loaded when Paige Allen hit a bases clearing double to give the Bison a 3-0 lead. Moments later, Destiny Goodnight singled to score Paige Allen. The Cougars broke the Bison shutout scoring a run in the sixth inning.

Josie Wise earned her seventh win of the season pitching 7.0 innings on eight hits, one run and four strikeouts.

Chatham University Cougars – 5-11, 0-2
