Baseball: Bison and Titans Split PAC Doubleheader

New Wilmington, Pa. – The Bethany College baseball team traveled north to take on the Westminster College Titans in a PAC doubleheader Saturday afternoon.

Game One Overview

Bethany 3, Westminster 2   

Stef Blackstone singled to centerfield to get the Bison rolling in the second inning. His single drove in Cameron Schaub to give the Bison a 1-0 lead. In the third inning, Kevin Pollock singled to center field to drive in Michael Whiteherse. The Titans scored on the bottom of the inning to cut the Bison lead in half. A Michael Whiteherse single in the fifth inning drove in JT Hubert. Bethany held on with a slim one run lead to take game one.

Zach Pressnell earned his third win of the season pitching six innings with four strikeouts. Zach Nolf picked up his fourth save of the season.

Game Two Overview

Westminster 8, Bethany 4

The Titans struck first in game two after taking a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Stef Blackstone drove in Michael Whiteherse to knot the game at 1-1 in the third inning. The Bison took a 2-1 lead after Cory Newman scored on a Titan error. In the bottom of the fifth, the Titans capitalized on Bison errors to regain the lead and pull ahead 5-2. The Titans added another run in the sixth to lead 6-2. In the seventh, Kevin Pollock put himself in scoring position after a leadoff triple. A Stefon Blackstone triple drove in Pollock. Moments later, Cameron Schaub drove in Blackstone off of a sacrifice fly to right field. Bethany trailed 6-4 after seven. Unfortunately, for the Bison, the Titans added two insurance runs in the eighth and maintained the lead.
