Baseball: Bison and Yellow Jackets Split on Senior Day

Bethany, W.Va. – The Bethany College baseball team split a PAC doubleheader with Waynesburg University Saturday afternoon at Bethany Park. The Bison celebrated and honored their five seniors prior to the first game.

Game One Overview

Bethany 5, Waynesburg 4

Waynesburg took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Bison quickly bounced back in the bottom half of the inning. Kevin Pollock drove in Michael Whiteherse to knot the game at 1-1. The Bison and Yellow Jackets went back and forth throughout the game with five lead changes. In the sixth inning, Sawyer D'Andrea doubled to drive in Derek Black for the game winning run for the Bison.

Game Two Overview

Waynesburg 8, Bethany 7

The Bison took the lead first in the second inning after Colton Stoneman reached on a fielder's choice allowing Cameron Schaub to score. Like much of the first game, the Bison and Yellow Jackets battled back and forth. The Bison led 6-4 after five innings of play. The Yellow Jackets chipped away at the Bison slim lead and eventually took the lead in the seventh inning. In the bottom of the ninth Cameron Schaub scored to cut the lead to one. The Bison had runners in scoring position but the Yellow Jackets held the Bison and took game two of the day.
