WBB Falls to Marietta in Opener

The Bethany College women's basketball team opened the season with a 78-47 loss to Marietta Saturday on Joe Kurey Memorial Court inside Hummel Field House in non-conference action.  

Marietta ended the first quarter on an 18-2 run to take a big lead. Bethany's offensive struggles continued in the second quarter as the Bison managed eight points.  

Senior Lindsey Garrison finished with 14 points on 5-of-14 shooting with one steal, while senior Ashleigh Wheeler added 10 points and six rebounds.  

Junior Kaedlee Potter, in her Bethany debut, pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.  

INSIDE THE BOX & NOTES 

  • Bethany shot 52.9 percent (9-of-17) from the free throw line.  

  • The Bison were outrebounded 36-32.  

  • Marietta shot 50.9 percent (28-of-55) from the floor, while the Bison shot 30.9 percent (17-of-55).  

  • Marietta's reserves held the 35-7 advantage.  

Bethany (0-1) opens Presidents' Athletic Conference action 5:30 p.m Wednesday, hosting Thiel inside Hummel Field House.
