
Skobel Sparks Game-Deciding Run
STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – Graduate Bella Skobel sparked the game-deciding run at the end of the third quarter, and the Bethany College women's basketball team secured the 68-56 Presidents' Athletic Conference victory Wednesday inside the Finnegan Fieldhouse.
The guard connected on back-to-back lay-ups, and then capped the run with a pair of free throws, as Bethany scored nine of the final 12 third-quarter points to open up its first double-digit lead. The spurt was part of a bigger 18-5 run that seeped into the fourth quarter, pushing the advantage to 14 points. The lead would grow to as much as 20 points in the final stanza.
Skobel finished with 12 points, four rebounds, an assist, and a steal, while senior Ashleigh Wheeler added 12 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Junior Kaedlee Potter finished with 10 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block.

- Freshman Brooklyn Edge tied her career-high with nine minutes and recorded her first career block.
- Wheeler has reached double figures in seven of the last 10 games, and 10 times total this season.

- Bethany registered 19 assists on 29 made field goals.
- After shooting 75 percent from the floor in the first quarter, the Bethany defense limited the Barons to 31.3 percent (15-of-48) for the rest of the game.
Bethany (10-8 overall, 7-6 PAC) travels to Washington & Jefferson 1 p.m. Saturday.
