WBB: Stellar Comeback Falls Short

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The sixth seeded Bethany College women's basketball fought to the final horn as their potential game-winning three-pointer fell short and the Bison fell to the third-seeded Chatham Tuesday, 61-59, in the Presidents' Athletic Conference quarterfinals.

Bethany, who trailed by as much as 18 points, used stingy fourth-quarter defense to put a scare into the reigning PAC champs. The Bison limited the Cougars to just three points over the final 10 minutes to give themselves an opportunity to pull off the upset.

Trailing by 14 points, junior Kaedlee Potter sparked a 10-0 run with eight points to get to within one possession. Bethany missed three potential game-tying three-pointers, but a putback by freshman Addy Blazer cut the deficit to one with two minutes remaining. The Bison turned the ball over three times over the final two minutes before missing the potential winner at the buzzer.

The Bison held Chatham to 1-of-15 shooting and forced six turnovers in the final period to have a chance.

Potter shrugged off a slow start to lead the team with 13 points, eight rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal, while senior Lindsey Garrison tabulated 10 points, three rebounds, and one assist.

Freshman Addy Blazer stuffed the stat sheet for the Bison with nine points, nine rebounds, five blocks, three steals, and two assists.
