WBB: Bison Inch Closer to PAC Berth

The Bethany College women's basketball team never trailed and inched closer to the Presidents' Athletic Conference tournament berth with the 90-74 victory over Geneva Saturday on Joe Kurey Memorial Court inside the Hummel Field House.

Bethany has a three-game lead for the sixth and final spot over Geneva and Waynesburg with four games to play. The Bison trailed Saint Vincent by two games for

Serenfourth place, and a home game that accompanies the spot.

The Bison used a 22-7 run in the first half, including an 8-0 stretch, to open a double-figure lead that rarely got back into single digits. The Golden Tornadoes ventured into the land of a single-figure deficit, cutting the BC lead to seven with 4:14 in the second quarter, but Bethany blitzed its visitors with nine straight. With that, Bethany had its lead back to 16.

Geneva had one last gasp with a 10-1 run in the fourth quarter that enabled it to cut the deficit to six with 4:28 remaining in the game. Bethany tallied 15 of the last 20 points to secure the win.

Senior Lindsey Garrison led the way with 21 points on 6-of-11 shooting with a season-high five rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Senior Ashleigh Wheeler stuffed the stat sheet with a season-high 19 points, six rebounds, six steals, and five assists.

Junior Kaedlee Potter added 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals, while senior Alyssa Serenky reached double figures for the second straight game with 12 points. She added five rebounds, an assist, and a steal.
