WBB: Final Home Game for Wheeler, Serensky, Skobal

The Bethany College women's basketball team fell to Allegheny Saturday, 67-58, in Presidents' Athletic Conference action on Joe Kurey Memorial Court inside Hummel Field House.  

Allegheny went on a 15-0 run during a seven-plus minute stretch from the end of the third quarter to the start of the fourth. With the game-deciding run, Bethany's six-point lead turned into a nine-point deficit.  

Bethany best quarter came in the second as it transformed a seven-point first-quarter deficit into a two-point halftime lead. The Bison used a 14-2 run in the early moments of the second quarter as five different players scored in the run.  

Trailing by nine in the fourth quarter, Bethany had one last gasp, cutting its deficit to four with 3:46 remaining. However, following three empty possessions, Allegheny scored six of the game's final seven points.  

Sophomore Kate Botti finished with 18 points, two steals, and two blocks, while senior Lindsey Garrison added 13 points, three assists, and two steals.  

Three different players – graduate Bella Skobel, senior Ashleigh Wheeler, junior Taylor Dusenberry, and freshman Addy Blazer – all pulled down five rebounds.  

INSIDE THE BOX & NOTES 

  • It marked the final home games for Skobel, Wheeler, and Serensky.  

  • Botti reached double figures for the eighth time this season, and the first in the last five games.  

  • Garrison has scored at least 10 points in 17 games this season, and needs just three three-pointers to tie the program's program.  

Bethany (13-12 overall, 10-10 PAC) will be the sixth seed in the upcoming Presidents' Athletic Conference tournament. The Bison travels to Pittsburgh 7 p.m. Tuesday to face the third seed Chatham.
