Botti Named to D3hoops.com Team of the Week
For the first time in seven seasons, a Bethany College women's basketball player has earned a spot on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week as sophomore Kate Botti was named to the national team, the website announced today (Tuesday, December 3, 2024).
"We knew you couldn't keep Kate down and we could not be more proud of her ability to bounce back after her injury, and be a key part of last week's success," said Bethany Head Coach Mikayla Lopez. "She worked hard to be back on the court with this group and it definitely showed."
The Presidents' Athletic Conference Player of the Week became the eighth Bethany player in school history, the 11th time overall, to be named to the Team of the Week. The last women's basketball player to earn the honor was Kelsea Daugherty on January 23, 2017.
Botti recorded her first double-double of the season with a career-high 25 points and season-high 10 rebounds to go along with four assists, four blocks, nad two assists in the 99-77 victory over Waynesburg. Her four made three-pointers were also a career-high, marking the first time she made more than one three-pointer in a game.
On the season, the forward is averaging 15.0 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game on 60.0 percent shooting from the floor.
Bethany (3-2 overall, 2-0 PAC) looks for its first 3-0 conference start since the 2006-07 season when the Bison hosts Franciscan 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
