Women's Basketball: Second Half Surge Lifts Muskingum Over Bethany

New Concord, Ohio – The Bethany College women's basketball team opened up the 2021 season on the road against OAC opponent Muskingum University Fighting Muskies. The Muskies used a second half surge to propel past the Bison, 77-69.

GAME FLOW

  • Freshman Ashleigh Wheeler scored the first two points of the 2021-22 season for the Bison on two free throws.
  • Bethany's first four points were scored off of made free throws.
  • The Bison scored the first 10 points in the game and led 12-2 before the Muskies scored with 6:17 to go in the first quarter.
  • Bethany led 23-12 at the end of the first.
  • Muskingum cut the lead to six, with six minutes to go in the second quarter, but Bethany gathered composure and took a 43-28 lead into the intermission.
  • Muskingum scored 30 points in the third quarter to take the lead away from Bethany, leading 58-54 at the end of three.
  • Bethany and Muskingum battled back and forth in the final quarter but the Muskies took the lead with under four minutes to go and held on for the win.
