Women's Basketball: Bethany Throttles Past Franciscan

Steubenville, Ohio – Bethany College women's basketball team cruised to a 70-33 victory over the Franciscan Barons to open up Presidents' Athletic Conference play Wednesday evening inside Finnegan Fieldhouse.

GAME FLOW

  • Bethany's Alexis Heap scored the first point of the night for the Bison.
  • Makenzee Mason scored the Bison's first field goal on the night at the 8:05 mark to give the Bison a 3-0 lead.
  • After a Lindsey Garrison three, the Bison led 16-6 at the end of the first stanza.
  • The Bison went on an 11-2 run to start the second quarter and continued to build their lead by as many as 23.  
  • Bethany led 36-15 at the intermission.
  • Momentum continued for the Bison in the second half, with Alexis Heap scoring a short jumper.
  • The Bison held the Barons to just 18 points in the second half.

IN THE BOX SCORE

  • Lindsey Garrison had 19 points and five rebounds, shooting a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe.
  • Makenzee Mason added 17 points, six rebounds and four assists.
  • Alexis Heap registered 11 points.
  • Ashleigh Wheeler had a team high eight rebounds, five steals, and four assists. She added five points for the Bison.
  • Taylor Stinnett had a team high four blocks.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • 85.7% - The Bison shot 85.7 percent (24-for-28) from the charity stripe.
  • 4-1 – The 4-1 start for the Bison is the best start since the 2002-03 season.
