Women's Basketball: Cold Shooting; Lack of Rebounding Sinks Bison in Loss to Cougars

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Chatham University Cougars used a strong third quarter to defeat the Bethany College Bison, 67-38 Saturday afternoon.

GAME FLOW

  • Bethany and Chatham struggled to find the basket in their first possessions.
  • Chatham struck first with Bethany answering moments later off of a Makenzee Mason driving layup. Minutes went by before the next basket with Chatham taking a 4-2 lead.  The Cougars pulled ahead 7-2.
  • The Bison used a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to one, 11-10.
  • Chatham led 13-10 after the first stanza.
  • Lindsey Garrison knotted the game at 13-13 to start the second quarter. Bethany regained the lead after a Wheeler three, 21-19.
  • Chatham took a 24-21 lead into the half.
  • Bethany struggled to stop the Cougar offense in the second half. The Cougars pulled ahead double-digits and never looked back.
  • The Bison were outscored 43-17 in the second half.

IN THE BOX SCORE

  • Ashleigh Wheeler led the Bison with 10 points.
  • Makenzee Mason and Bella Skobel added nine points apiece.
  • The Bison shot a cold 27.1 from the field. 
  • The Cougars outrebounded the Bison 41-27. The Cougars scored 14 second chance points.
