Women's Basketball: Bethany Outlasts Juniata
Bethany, W. Va. – Bethany College women's basketball outlasted the Juniata College Eagles inside Hummel Field House Tuesday evening. The Bison defeated the Eagles 65-55. The 6-1 (2-0 PAC) start is the best start since the 2002-03 season.
GAME FLOW
- Sophomore Makenzee Mason lifted the lid scoring the first points of the game.
- The Eagles knotted the game at 2-2 then the Bison went on a 9-0 run to build a 11-2 lead.
- At the end of the first stanza, Bethany led 18-8.
- In the second quarter, the Eagles strung together a surge to get within two points of the Bison in the final four minutes of the half.
- The Bison were able to hold off the Eagles and keep the narrow lead, 30-24 heading into the halftime break.
- Senior Courtney Walker scored 10 of her 17 points in the third stanza. She scored the Bison's final 10 points of the third quarter and gave the Bison a 43-34 lead heading into the final stanza.
- Sophomore Makenzee Mason contributed 11 of her 16 points in the final quarter. She scored 8-of-11 fourth quarter points from the charity stripe to seal the Bison victory.
IN THE BOX SCORE
- Courtney Walker had 17 points, shooting 7-10 from the field and 3-5 from behind the arc.
- Makenzee Mason added 16 points, four rebounds and one assist.
- Lindsey Garrison had 13 points.
- Ashleigh Wheeler had eight points and five assists.
