Women's Basketball: Bison Bounce Back with Win over Golden Tornadoes

Bethany, W. Va. – The Bethany College women's basketball team bounced back into the win column after defeating the Geneva College Golden Tornadoes, 77-62 inside Hummel Field House Monday evening.

GAME FLOW

  • Kelsie Meintel led the game off with a free throw before Geneva took a 3-1 lead after nailing a three.
  • Bethany took advantage of an 11-2 run to build a 12-5 lead with four minutes to go in the first stanza.
  • Bethany extended their lead 19-8 heading into the second quarter.
  • The Bison continued momentum through the second quarter. They continued to build a dominant lead. Bethany led 42-23 heading into the half.
  • Bethany and Geneva battled in the third quarter, with the Golden Tornadoes outscoring the Bison, 24-22 in the third stanza.
  • Using a 10-point run, the Golden Tornadoes pulled within 46-33. The Bison answered back with buckets from Lindsey Garrison. 10 of Garrison's 26 points came in the third quarter.
  • The Bison took a 64-47 lead heading into the final quarter of play.
  • Bethany held a comfortable lead in the fourth holding off the Golden Tornadoes, 77-62.

IN THE BOX SCORE

  • Freshman Lindsey Garrison led the Bison with 26 points shooting 5-for-10 from behind the arc. She pulled in five rebounds and had two assists and two steals.
  • Senior Courtney Walker registered a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
  • Freshman Ashleigh Wheeler had a team high 15 rebounds and nine points.
  • Senior Kelsie Meintel added nine points and pulled in eight rebounds. She had three assists.
