Women's Basketball: Balanced Scoring and Strong Defense Lifts Bison Past Yellow Jackets

Waynesburg, Pa. – The Bethany College women's basketball team used strong defense and balanced offense to cruise past the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets, 83-48, Wednesday evening inside the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.  

GAME FLOW

  • Bethany took a 7-0 lead to start the game.
  • After a Waynesburg time, the Yellow Jackets were able to get on the board to cut the Bison lead to 7-2.
  • The Bison defense held the Yellow Jackets to just seven points in the first stanza taking a 22-7 lead heading into the second quarter.
  • Waynesburg cut the deficit to single-digits before Kelsie Meintel nailed at three to pull the Bison ahead by 11, 25-14 with just over seven minutes to go in the first half. A Bella Skobel three extended the Bethany lead to 14, 28-14.
  • Bethany held onto a double-digit lead heading into the halftime break, 35-23.
  • The Bison extended their lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Yellow Jackets 26-15 in the third stanza.
  • Bethany took a 61-38 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • The Bison held onto a commanding lead, taking an 83-48 victory over the Yellow Jackets.
