Women's Basketball: Wheeler and Botti earn PAC weekly award honors
TRAFFORD, Pa. – Bethany College women's basketball players Ashleigh Wheeler and Kate Botti earned Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) weekly award recognition for their performances during week three of the season.
Wheeler earned Player of the Week recognition for the first time in her career. In Bethany's 2-1 week, Wheeler averaged 15.3 points, 7.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals. In a PAC win over Allegheny, the junior guard posted 20 points with six assists and six steals while going 14-of-16 from the foul line. In the loss to UC Santa Cruz, she dished out seven assists and had five rebounds while scoring 12 points. In the 89-63 win against the University of Redlands, Wheeler had 14 points, eight assists, five rebounds and three steals while shooting 6-for-10 from the field, as she earned a spot on the All-Tournament team at the UCSC Thanksgiving Classic.
Botti earned PAC Newcomer of the Week recognition for the first time in her career after posting 14 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, three blocks and two steals in Bethany's 2-1 week. In the win over Allegheny, the freshman forward put up eight points, shooting 50.0% from the field, while also grabbing five rebounds and blocked a shot. In the victory over Redlands, Botti posted six points, going 3-for-3 from the field, along with six rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks.
Bethany returns to the court Wednesday, Nov. 29 when they host Chatham in a PAC matchup beginning at 5:30 pm.
