Women's Basketball: Bison rebound back into win column with 70-58 win over Saint Vincent
BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College women's basketball found themselves back in the win column after a 70-58 victory over Saint Vincent College Saturday afternoon.
GAME FLOW
- Bethany jumped out to the early lead, opening up the quarter leading 10-4. Saint Vincent would cut the deficit to one with a 6-2 run. The Bison would respond with a 6-0 run of their own to take an eight point lead.
- The Bison would take a 21-15 lead heading into the second quarter.
- Saint Vincent kept the game close throughout the second stanza. The Bison never trailed and kept a narrow, 40-38 lead heading into halftime.
- The Bearcats opened the second half on the prowl. They scored the first four points to take the lead. The Bison battled back after Makenzee Mason made both free throws and Bella Skobel nailed a three. Skobel hit another three a few possessions later to extend the Bison lead to five.
- After leading by one with 4:27 to go in the third, the Bison went on a 10-1 run to take a 58-48 lead heading into the fourth stanza.
- Ashleigh Wheeler scored the first five points for the Bison in the fourth quarter. The Bison went on a 10-3 run to take a 14 point lead. A pair of Lindsey Garrison free throws at the 3:47 would be the last points scored of the game.
IN THE BOX SCORE
- Lindsey Garrison led the Bison with 20 points, shooting 5-for-9 from behind the arc.
- Ashleigh Wheeler added 14 points and four assists. She pulled down four rebounds and had two steals.
- Bella Skobel had 13 points with five rebounds.
- Kate Botti and Sophie Morey pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds each.

- Bethany hit 11-of-27 three's (40.7%). They shot 40.4% (23-of-57).
- The Bison out rebounded the Bearcats, 40-29 including 15 second chance points.
- The Bearcats scored 17 points off turnovers, while the Bison scored 11.
NOTEABLES
- The win tonight is just the third time the Bison have defeated the Bearcats since 2017. The last Bethany win came in 2022 inside Hummel Field House when the Bison won, 68-54. The Bearcats own a 26-5 overall record against the Bison.
