Women's Basketball: Bison earn road win to conclude regular season

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Bethany College women's basketball team clinched the three seed in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) tournament after defeating Westminster College on the road Saturday afternoon. The Bison held on for a 67-56 victory over the Titans.

GAME FLOW/HIGHLIGHTS

  • After each team opened their first possession of the game with a missed field-goal, the Titans lifted the scoring lid, after a jumper. The Titans held a 4-0 lead before Kate Botti put the Green and White on the board with a made free-throw which sparked a Bison 6-0 run. Bethany led 15-13 after the first stanza.
  • The Bison jumped out to a 7-2 run after being knotted at 17-17, to take a 24-19 lead. Westminster took momentum and finished the quarter on an 11-4 spurt while taking the lead, 30-28 heading into the break.
  • Westminster maintained their momentum into the third quarter using a 12-2 run to take a double-digit lead. Bella Skobel took control for the Bison and scored nine straight points to cut the Titan lead to 42-41. Back-to-back buckets by the Titans built the lead back up. Sophie Morey hit a layup as time expired to cut the deficit to 47-43 heading into the fourth.
  • Lindsey Garrison opened the fourth quarter with an old-fashioned three-point play. Both team exchanged baskets until a Bison stop led to a Bella Skobel layup for her 21st point of the game to deadlock the game at 50-50. From there the Bison closed the game outscoring the Titans, 19-6 to seal the win.
