Women's Basketball: Slow start hinders Bison in loss to Cougars
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Bethany College women's basketball team dropped their fourth straight game after falling 77-56 to Chatham University Wednesday evening.
GAME FLOW/HIGHLIGHTS
- Chatham started the game on a 16-0 run, hitting four three's, including back-to-back three's to open the game.
- Bethany's Bella Skobel hit a floating jump shot to put the Bison on the board with just under five minutes to go in the first quarter. After a Kate Botti steal, Skobel hit a jumper to attempt to spark the Bison offense. Lindsey Garrison cut the deficit to 10 after a jumper. Chatham would close the first quarter on a 10-1 run, holding a 26-7 lead.
- To start the second quarter, Chatham hit three straight three's to extend the lead to 35-7. The Cougars held full control of the first half, hitting 11 shots from behind the arc. Chatham led 52-20 at the half.
- Bethany outscored Chatham, 36-25 in the second half but the deficit was too much for the Bison to overcome.
IN THE BOX SCORE
- The Bison were led by Lindsey Garrison with 12 points. Garrison had three steals.
- Alyssa Serensky added 10 points.
- Kate Botti added a team-high seven rebounds and five assists.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Chatham hit 15 three's, shooting 15-of-33 from behind the arc. The Cougars went 28-for-65 from the field.
- Bethany had six three's, shooting 6-for-22 from behind the arc and 24-of-68 from the field.
- The Cougars out rebounded the Bison, 47-36.
