Women's Basketball: Balanced offense leads Bison past Tomcats

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Bethany College women's basketball team tipped off the 2024 calendar year on the road against Thiel College for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup Wednesday evening. The Bison used a balance offense and stifling defense to win, 84-53.

GAME FLOW

  • After being knotted at 4-4, the Bison took control and went on a 9-0 run to take the lead. The Bison never trailed the Tomcats through the entirety of the game. The Green and White led 22-13 after the first stanza.
  • In the second quarter, the Bison held the Tomcats to seven points while scoring 19. Senior Bella Skobel led the offense in the second stanza scoring a team-high six points. Six Bison scored in the second quarter and Bethany led 41-22 at the half.
  • Bethany continued to have control over Thiel in the second half, leading by as many as 36.

IN THE BOX SCORE

  • Alyssa Serensky led the Bison with 16 points shooting 4-of-7 from behind the arc. She pulled in four rebounds and had two assists.
  • Lindsey Garrison added 11 points followed by Makenzee Mason and Kate Botti with 10 points apiece. Mason had four rebounds and four assists. Botti pulled down seven boards with two assists and two steals.
  • Sophie Morey pulled down 10 rebounds (all offensive). She contributed eight points.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Ten different Bison scored in tonight's matchup.
  • The Bison went 35-of-75 from the field (46.7%) while holding Thiel to 18-of-45 (40.0%) from the field.
  • Bethany hit ten three's (10-27).
  • The Green and White out rebounded the Tomcats, 44-26 and scored 15 second chance points. They scored 19 points off of 22 Tomcats turnovers.
