Women's Basketball: Yellow Jackets sting Bison

WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Bethany College women's basketball team dropped their third straight Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup in a 70-63 to Waynesburg University inside Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse, Saturday afternoon.

GAME FLOW/HIGHLIGHTS

  • Bethany started the game off slow and couldn't find an offensive rhythm. The Yellow Jackets started the game on a 6-2 run.  The Bison came back and knotted the game at 6-6, however, the Yellow Jackets would take the lead and it would swell to 19-9 until Lindsey Garrison hit a three before the quarter expired. Bethany hit 4-of-13 shots from the field and a cold 1-for-7 from downtown.
  • Waynesburg led 19-12 after the first stanza.
  • Bethany's offense heated up in the second, outscoring Waynesburg, 17-13 in the second quarter. After trailing by as many as nine, the Bison went on a 12-4 run to close out the second quarter.
  • Waynesburg led 32-29 at the half.
  • Despite both teams scoring 16 points in the third, the Yellow Jackets held the lead after three quarters of play.  
  • In the fourth, the Yellow Jackets held the momentum and the Bison comeback would fall short.

IN THE BOX SCORE

  • The Bison were led by Makenzee Mason with 24 points and eight rebounds. She added two assists and two steals.
  • Junior Lindsey Garrison had 22 points with four made threes and had three rebounds.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Waynesburg went 24-of-57 from the field (42.1 percent).
  • Bethany went 5-for-23 from behind the arc. The Bison went 22-of-30 from the charity stripe.
  • The Yellow Jackets edged the Bison on the boards, 41-40.
