Track & Field teams compete at Charleston Spring Break Invite

CHARLESTON, S.C. (March 18) - The Bethany College men's and women's track & field team opened the outdoor season by competing in the Charleston Spring Break Invitational hosted by Charleston Southern University Friday and Saturday.

Sophomore Jordan Hunkins (Zanesville, Ohio/West Muskingum) and freshman Baboucar Sallah-Mohammad (Arlington, Va./Fishburne Military) led the Bison men in the field. Hunkins finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 14.14 meters, a personal-best in outdoor competition, while Sallah-Mohammad took 11th in the long jump with a mark of 6.65 meters.

Sophomore Leighanna Frantz (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) paced the women in the field, placing 10th in the high jump after clearing 1.45 meters.

On the track, Bethany was led by senior Andre Butler (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) who placed 10th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.26 seconds and 12th in the 100-meter dash after posting a time of 11.21 seconds. 

The event featured schools from NCAA Divisions I, II and III levels. Team scores were not recorded for the event.

The Bison return north to compete in the Muskingum Invitational on Saturday, March 25.
