Several Bison establish personal records at PAC Quad South

BETHANY, W.Va. (April 19) – The Bethany College track and field teams hosted the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Quad South Meet Wednesday evening at Bison Stadium.

Senior Andre Butler (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) performed well in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. He posted an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) mark of 11 seconds even in the 100 meters to place second overall and crossed the tape at 22.33 in the 200 meters to win the event.

In the field, freshman Baboucar Sallah-Mohammed (Arlington, Va./Fishburne Military), the recently named ECAC Rookie of the Week, established an outdoor season-best in the long jump with a mark of 6.73 meters (22 feet, 1 inch) to win the event and improve his ECAC qualifying distance.

The women's team on the track was headed by the efforts of freshman Amanda Gower (Washington, Pa./Trinity). Gower won the 200 meters with a personal-record time of 27.10 seconds.

A pair of sophomores posted personal-record times in the 800-meter run and 400-meter dash. Sophomore Marshall Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) established a personal-record in the 800-meter run, crossing the tape at one minute, 58.34 seconds to place second overall, while classmate Jelani Williams (Jersey City, N.J./Ferris) posted a career-best time of 50.81 seconds in the 400-meter dash.

Murray, Williams, Butler and senior Nate Cumberworth (Jewett, Ohio/Harrison Central) teamed up to post an ECAC qualifying time in the 4x400-meter relay, with Williams running the anchor leg and crossing the finish line at three minutes, 23.77 seconds to claim the victory in the event for the Bison.

Sophomore Byron Mayers (Brownsville, Pa./Brownsville) paced Butler on the track in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes, finishing fourth overall in both. He finished with a time of 11.30 in the 100 meters and posted a time of 22.66 in the 200 meters.

The Bison will head to Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania on Friday and Saturday, April 28-29 for the PAC Outdoor Championships hosted by Geneva.
