BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (April 14) – The Bethany College track & field teams competed at the Jasmine Claggett Memorial hosted by West Virginia Wesleyan College Friday.

It was another solid performance on the track for senior Andre Butler (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville). The sprinter posted season-best and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) qualifying times in both the 400- and 100-meter dashes. First, he won the 400 meters with a time of 49.67 seconds. Moments later he competed in the finals of the 100-meter dash and also won it with a time of 10.99 seconds.

Butler was not done on the track. He finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.06 seconds and was the anchor-leg of the 4x100-meter relay team that established a new season-best time. Butler, senior Jalen Holmes (New Castle, Pa./New Castle), sophomore Byron Mayers (Brownsville, Pa./Brownsville) and freshman Baboucar Sallah-Mohammad (Arlington, Va./Fishburne Military) crossed the tape in 42.50 seconds to improve upon their ECAC qualifying time established earlier this year.

On the women's side, junior Ashley Borsch (Richmond, Ohio/Edison Local) finished fifth in the 100-meter dash finals, posting a time of 13.06 seconds.

The men also had a successful day in the jumps, as both Sallah-Mohammad and senior Aaron Frye (Vandergrift, Pa./Kiski Area) posted points for the Bison. Frye established a season-best mark and finished second in the long jump with a personal-record of 6.53 meters. Meanwhile, Sallah-Mohammad finished just behind Frye in the long jump with a mark of 6.47 meters to take third and added a third-place finish in the triple jump with a jump of 12.90 meters.
