Bison men take third, women seventh at PAC Championships

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (April 29) - The Bethany College track & field teams competed at the Presidents' Athletics Conference (PAC) Outdoor Championships Friday and Saturday at Geneva College.

The men were led by a pair of first-place finishes to claim third place overall as a team, while the women finished seventh overall. Geneva claimed the men's team title, while Waynesburg earned the women's title.

Freshman Baboucar Sallah-Mohammed (Arlington, Va./Fishburne Academy) won the high jump with an outdoor-season personal record of six feet, 3.5 inches (1.92 meters). He also added a second place mark in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 11 inches (6.68 meters) and a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a personal-record of 43 feet, 0.25 inches (13.11 meters).

Junior Ed Maxwell (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) also took home a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles. He established a personal-record to win the event with a time of 55.81 seconds. He also established a PR in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing at 15.80 seconds to claim fourth place.

Junior Ashley Borsch (Richmond, Ohio/Edison Local) helped lead the women's team. She took second place in the 100-meter hurdles after crossing the tape at 16.05 seconds and claimed eighth place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.38 seconds.

Freshman Amanda Gower (Washington, Pa./Trinity) established a pair of personal-records on the track. She earned a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter run with a PR time of one minute, 1.24 seconds and followed that with a PR time of 26.82 in the 200 meters to claim sixth place.

Senior Andre Butler (Poolesville, Md./Poolsville) finished the day with a fifth place finish in both the 400 and 200 meters. He finished with a time of 49.64 seconds in the 400 and recorded a time of 22.45 seconds in the 200 meters.

Sophomore Marshall Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) established a new personal-record and crossed the tape second overall in the 800-meter run with a time of one minute, 54.54 seconds.

Sophomore Leighanna Frantz (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) and freshman Ashley Duthie (Madison, Ohio/Madison) each added points to the women's team's final total in the high jump. Frantz tied for second after clearing four feet, 10.25 inches (1.48 meters), while Duthie tied for fifth after clearing four feet, 8.25 inches (1.43 meters).

In the relays, the 4x100-meter team of Butler, Sallah-Mohammad, senior Jalen Holmes (New Castle, Pa../New Castle) and sophomore Byron Mayers (Brownsville, Pa./Brownsville) took second place in the event after finishing with a time of 43.20 seconds. The 4x400-meter team of Butler, Murray, Maxwell and junior Jelani Williams (Jersey City, N.J./Ferris) closed out the day on the track by taking second place with a time of three minutes, 22.70 seconds.

Right behind Sallah-Mohammad in the men's jumps were seniors Aaron Frye (Vandergrift, Pa./Kiski Area) and Antonio Rudolph (New Castle, Pa./New Castle). Frye tied for second in the high jump after clearing six feet, 1.5 inches (1.87 meters) and also claimed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 21 feet 1.5 inches (6.44 meters). Meanwhile, Rudolph took home fifth in the long jump with a mark of five feet, 9.75 inches (1.77 meters) and fifth in the triple jump at 42 feet, 10.25 inches (13.06 meters).

On Friday, senior Ryan Donnelly (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) helped get the Bison on the scoreboard earned fifth place in the 10,000-meter run finishing with a time of 33:53.

In the throws, sophomore Patience Frazier (Washington, Pa./Washington) finished sixth overall on the women's side in the javelin with a throw of 107 feet, four inches (32.71 meters), while sophomore Jordan Hunkins (Zanesville, Ohio/West Muskingum) took home fourth in the shot put with a mark of 45 feet, five inches (13.84 meters).
