Sallah-Mohammed named both ECAC and PAC Rookie of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. (April 26) – For the third time this season, Bethany College freshman Baboucar Sallah-Mohammed (Arlington, Va./Fishburne Military) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rookie of the Week announced the organization Wednesday morning.

Sallah-Mohammed, who was selected as the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Track & Field Rookie of the Week Monday afternoon, established an outdoor season-best in the long jump with a mark of 6.73 meters (22 feet, 1 inch) to win the event at the PAC Quad South Meet hosted by Bethany this past Wednesday. The mark currently is the best in the entire conference this season.

He was also the runner-up in the triple jump with a mark of 12.47 meters (40 feet, 11 inches) and took fourth in the high jump after clearing 1.80 meters (five feet, 10.75 inches).

This is the third time during the outdoor season that Sallah-Mohammed has earned both the ECAC and PAC's weekly rookie laurel.

The PAC also named him its final indoor rookie of the week and the Virginia native was also named the men's soccer rookie of the week on October 17, 2016. Sallah-Mohammed was also the league's indoor field athlete of the week on February 6, 2017.

Sallah-Mohammed and the rest of the Bison Track & Field teams will head to Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania on Friday and Saturday, April 28-29 for the PAC Outdoor Championships hosted by Geneva.
