Sallah-Mohammed wins long jump to highlight ECAC Track and Field Championships

WESTFIELD, Mass. (May 18) - Freshman Baboucar Sallah-Mohammed (Arlington, Va./Fishburne Military) captured the title in the men's long jump to lead the members of the Bethany College Track and Field team that participated at the Eastern College Athletic Conference championships hosted by Westfield College.

Sallah-Mohammed established a personal-best with a 6.99 meter (22 feet, 9.33 inches) jump to take the long jump crown. His previous best was 6.85 meters (22 feet, 5.75 inches) from the Allegheny Invitational on May 12. He becomes the first athlete in Bethany history to earn the medalist honor in an ECAC Championship event (indoor or outdoor).

Sophomore Marshall Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) medaled in the 800, finishing third with a time of one minute, 59.67 seconds.

The 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Murray, Jelani Williams (Jersey City, N.J./Ferris), Ed Maxwell (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) and Andre Butler (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) finished fourth with their season-best time of three minutes, 20.88 seconds on day one of the event.

Butler also finished the 200 meter dash in seventh place with a time of 22.21 seconds, while Maxwell finished sixth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.57 seconds.

Sophomore Jordan Hunkins (Zanesville, Ohio/West Muskingum) finished in sixth place in the shot put with a throw of 14 meters (45 feet, 11.25 inches).

As a team, the Bison finished tied for eighth with 30 points.
