Working for the United Nations

Tips for being successful?
Time management is so important! Planning out your week with assignments, practices, and study is a great way to stay on top of schoolwork and also be successful in your sport.

What does it mean to be a Scholar-Athlete?
Being a scholar-athlete is so rewarding. Though we have a very busy and demanding schedule, we are dedicated to being the best we can in our sport and in the classroom. Scholar-athletes love the sport they're doing, but also recognize the importance of getting a degree.

Why Bethany?
We are a big family. Everyone looks out for everyone. I know there is always someone I can talk to or hang out with.

What is your biggest accomplishment?
My biggest accomplishment was having the courage to travel across the world to Bethany College. I am from Australia, and moving so far away from family and friends was definitely daunting. I am so glad I made the journey because I have made lifelong friends and such great memories.

With COVID-19 restrictions, how have you adapted as an athlete and as a student?
In terms of classes, I have had to force myself to be a lot more disciplined. It is easy to not pay attention during online classes, so I need to constantly remind myself to focus. For basketball, we have had to get creative about how we practice and do team bonding activities within COVID guidelines. It involved a lot of small groups for a majority of pre-season, which has allowed us to focus on skill work and self-improvements.

Favorite Class?
Currently, my favorite class is U.S. Foreign Policy with Professor Mobley. It correlates directly with the type of work I want to do as a career, and Professor Mobley does a really great job at encouraging student interaction.

A Fun Fact about yourself:
The first time I had ever visited America was when I arrived at Bethany College for the first time!
