PAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships get underway Thursday

GREENVILLE, Pa. (pacathletics.org)--This year's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships, slated for Thursday-Friday, April 29-30, will be hosted by Bethany College at the Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park in Morgantown, W.Va. 

The championships will get underway Thursday at 4 p.m. with eight event finals and preliminaries in the men's 100 meters and 110-meter hurdles and women's 100 meters and 100-meter hurdles.

Thirty event finals are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Friday. The awards ceremony is tentatively planned for 7:45 p.m. Friday evening.

K&J Timing (Wheeling, W.Va.) will be providing the meet management, timing and officiating services. 

Built in 2018 and officially opened in 2019, the Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park features an eight-lane competition track with a Mondo running surface. The complex also features areas for long jump, triple jump, high jump and a fully enclosed grass infield for hammer, discus and javelin throw. It is the home of the West Virginia University (WVU) track and field and cross country teams.

The Bethany College Department of Athletics, in conjunction with the PAC, has announced a revised attendance policy for this year's outdoor track and field championships.

• Spectators are permitted to attend the two-day championship event, hosted by Bethany, at Mylan Park in Morgantown, W.Va. 

• Spectators should remain in the bleachers or outside the surrounding fence. Only coaches, student-athletes, team personnel and event staff are permitted within the competition and team tent areas. 

• All spectators are required to wear a mask, except when eating or drinking, and observe proper social distancing measures at all times.

• Spectators are asked to refrain from interacting with student-athletes.

• Avoid group gatherings with teams and individual competitors.

• Anyone experiencing or exhibiting any COVID-19-related symptoms should not attend.

This policy is subject to revision if conditions with the COVID-19 pandemic change. Additionally, non-compliance with the protocols set forth in this policy may result in the removal from the event.
