Bethany College Announces Revised Attendance Policy for Outdoor Sports

Bethany, W.Va. – The Bethany College Department of Athletics, in conjunction with the College's COVID-19 task force, has announced a revised attendance policy starting Saturday, March 6 for all home outdoor sporting events during the 2021 spring semester. These limited attendance policies affect football, baseball, softball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's lacrosse, men and women's cross-country, men and women's track and field, and women's tennis home athletic events.

Bison Stadium, Bison Field, Bethany Park, and Hoag Field will all have a limited capacity in an effort of promoting and prioritizing the health and safety of student-athletes and game day personnel in light of the COVID-19 global pandemic.

No visiting fans will be allowed. The number of spectators will be limited by the venue's capacity - which might be lower than the number currently allowed by the Governor of West Virginia. Each Bethany College scholar-athlete will be permitted two tickets per game and each team will be responsible for putting selected individuals on a pass list.  Additionally, Bethany College students, faculty and staff will be admitted with a Bethany College ID.

Proof of identity will be required upon entering all venues. All spectators will have their temperature taken before entry.  A temperature of 100.4 or above will not be permitted to attend.  Additional details on facility entry and parking will be available in the next several days.

Permitted attendees will be allowed to enter one hour before a football game and 30-minutes before any other contest. There will be no re-entry allowed once a spectator leaves the venue. All spectators will be asked to leave the venue within 30-minutes of the completion of the contest. There will be no field access for spectators at any time.

The approved spectator policy can change upon an increase of COVID-19 cases on our campus or in our community at the recommendation of the COVID-19 task force. Communications of fans not being allowed attendance will be made through www.bethanybison.com and on the social media accounts for Bethany College Athletics.

Masks/face coverings must be properly worn at all times. Any individual who does not comply with this policy will be asked to leave the facility immediately. The physical distancing of six feet or more is required between individuals not sharing a household. Gatherings of multiple individuals near highly-trafficked areas will not be permissible.  Fans not following Bethany College, PAC, NCAA or CDC Guidelines will be asked to leave the event.

There will be no tailgating allowed. No concessions will be available at games, but fans will be allowed to bring food and drink into the venue; however, no coolers or alcoholic beverages will be allowed.  The Thomas Philips Johnson Recreation Center will not be available for outside spectators.

In order to keep our campus community safe we ask that fans feeling any symptoms related to COVID-19 refrain from attending events on our campus.
